Pauline Bonney

About Artist:
Pauline Bonney is a Wangkatha woman from the Goldfields region of Western Australia, with connections to Ngudju and Mirning people.

She is the youngest of 13 children & was born into an artistic family. Her Mother spoke fluent Wangkatha & spoke about her culture to her as a small child. She often watched her Mother paint & make traditional necklaces for the ladies when they came to town. This had a large impact on her life & helped to develop a love of art.

Most of Pauline's family paint, draw or play a musical instrument. As a child she was always fascinated with the artistic process & would sit for hours and watch family members paint. Pauline has always loved art & at school always received high grades & awards for her artistic ability.

Pauline developed her artistic talents in her late 20's, starting with oils on canvas & then acrylic on canvas which is her preferred medium. It was after a brief move to the Sunshine Coast of Queensland that Pauline decided to develop and establish an art career, as well as developing her own Indigenous Outdoor Art & Home Décor line, Karnpi Designs. Her love of nature and the wonders she sees around her is what enables her to draw inspiration in the many pieces she creates. Pauline has one grown son who is married with two beautiful grandchildren.
